This is my second month getting Bright Cellars and I’m very happy with it! Your subscription is supposed to process each month on the day that you originally signed up, but my wine concierge Maria was super helpful this month and processed it early so that I’d have it in time for Thanksgiving! How sweet is that?!
Before I dive into which wines I got this month, I just want to remind everyone about how Bright Cellars works: It’s a wine club that selects wines just for you by using a quiz to determine your taste preferences. Each month, you’ll receive 4 bottles in the mail (unless you earned extra bottles by referring new members – which is why I have 5 bottles this month! Cheers to whoever signed up!) You can then log into the system and rate the wines you were sent, so over time Bright Cellars learns more about your palate and can send you wines you’ll absolutely love! For more info on how it works, click here!
This time around (unlike last month), the bottles came unwrapped in the box. I’m wondering if this is how they come after your first month? Doesn’t really make a difference to me, just never had a subscription that changed packaging after the welcome package is all. It may have come unwrapped because they rushed this to me for Thanksgiving. Anyway, no big deal – just an observation.
Now, onto the fun part… The wines! I wanted to give you guys a little glimpse at both the wines I received and the tasting notes available on the Bright Cellars website. Here’s what I got this month…
Quercialta (Super Tuscan) Red 2010
Notes: Cherry, Strawberry, Dried Flowers, Spice, Truffle.
Quercialta is a rich Sangiovese-based red blend from Tuscany and is considered a “Super Tuscan.” A Super Tuscan is a wine from Tuscany that adds non-traditional varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon. Enjoy with an equally rich Italian dinner!
Collefrisio Pecorino 2011
Notes: Ripe Pear, Peach, Jasmine, Honey.
This Pecorino is fantastically balanced with a deep, rich bouquet of ripe fruit, honey, and flowers. This complex, aromatic wine has great body and is a fantastic white wine to enjoy by itself or with food. Pecorino is an up and coming grape popular in Central Italy that pairs well with the cheese of the same name!
Inspira Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2012
Maipo Valley, Chile
Notes: Blackberry, Raspberry, Black Cherry, Pepper, Licorice, Clove.
A bold Cabernet with generous dark fruit flavor from the Maipo Valley, Chile’s most renowned wine region famous for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. Maipo was the birthplace of Chile’s wine industry 150 years ago.
Linaje Garsea Tempranillo Red 2012
Ribera Del Duero, Spain
Notes: Cherry, Strawberry, Truffle, Vanilla.
The perfect wine for lovers of Cabernet Sauvignon and bold red blends. This is a full-bodied red wine with generous fruit and refined wood flavors. Ribera del Duero is famous for its powerful reds made exclusively from Tempranillo, Spain’s traditional red grape.
Castel Sallegg Moscato Giallo 2010
Alto Adige, Italy
Notes: Lemon, Orange, Floral, Pear, Baked Apple.
This lightly sweet and crisp Moscato Giallo is from Alto Adige in northern Italy. This wine bursts with ripe fruit and combines an exotic orange flavor with complements of rope pear and a baked fruit aroma.
Honestly, I’m really happy with Bright Cellars so far. The biggest disappointment has been that they can’t ship to every state (which has frustrated a few readers and friends of mine). But, the law is the law, so there isn’t much they can do about that. I have been told that they’re anticipating these laws to change in some states in the new year, so starting in January, they may be able to ship to some states that they currently can’t ship to! So if you tried and failed before, it may be worth it to try again then.
This is also a really lovely gift idea if you have a wine-lover in your family or friend circle. I’ve gotten a wine club membership as a gift before and it’s seriously the gift that keeps on giving. I can also attest to the fact that it’s a pretty awesome gift to yourself!
Want to give it a shot? You’ll get your first Bright Cellars shipment for half off when you order using this link! That’s $30 (+ shipping) for 4 bottles of wine selected with your tastebuds in mind! I definitely recommend it!
Cheers and Happy Thanksgiving!
