SBSGG | Trinkets by Dana & a Giveaway!

For this week’s installment of our Small Business Saturday Gift Guide I got to know Dana, a jack-of-all-trades and owner of Trinkets by Dana! Dana has kindly offered to give away one of her hand made necklaces and an original photography print.

Meet Dana:

Dana is a multi-talented artist, college student, and owner of Trinkets by Dana. Her shop has everything from origami, to original 2D art, to hand-made jewelry. Prices on her Etsy shop range from $10 – $50, so there is something for every budget!  Dana has very kindly offered to give away two items from her shop! Keep reading to find out which items are up for grabs!

When I asked Dana how she likes to work, she told me that she likes to be in a quiet room with her supplies all out around her so that she can bounce from one inspiration to the other. Right now, her work/homework/sleeping space is all one room. But, ideally she would like to have a work space with lots of storage and shelves. This room would have a fuzzy rug in the corner to sprawl out on, reminiscent of reading time in kindergarten. When she needs a break from school work, Dana says she always gravitates towards a canvas- where here mind abstractly ends up on paper. If she is feeling restless and needs something more structured to work on, she turns to origami or jewelry.

Dana was first introduced to origami in elementary school, but it wasn’t until college that she got seriously into it. She started using crafts as a way to de-stress and began collecting all kinds of paper so that she could experiment with patterns and color theory.

Dana also makes 2D art. She says two of her favorite mediums to use are thin sharpies and water color. She likes that she can over lap lines and not be as “neat” but, rather, she can be abstract with these mediums. She also likes to up-cycle materials like dried flowers and postage stamps for her artwork. Dana enjoys trying new things, so she is always working with different mediums.

Additionally, Dana is a jewelry maker. She says she finds inspiration in all aspects of life; architecture, nature, people. Dana says; “I’m a big believer of color therapy and I get drawn to certain colors and designs based on my mood when I’m working on artwork”.
