SBSGG| Little Free Radical & a Giveaway

When I was pregnant with my sweet little Ant, one of my best friends sent me a really special gift package. Ryan knows I love elephants so, among the many useful items in this package were an adorable stuffed elephant and a matching cloth ball. These toys are from Little Free Radical, an Etsy shop that specializes in hand-made, eco-friendly children’s toys and party decorations. Little Free Radical’s owner, Crystal, is very sweet, knowledgeable and witty. I have had the privilege of getting to know her and can’t wait to share some things with you!

Meet Crystal:

Crystal first began hand-sewing her own toys as a child. In high school, she would make clothes for American Girl dolls and sell them at craft fairs and trunk shows. When she opened up her Etsy shop in 2010, she sold some of those doll outfits left over from her high school years and began making a few toys for her shop. She slowly started to add in party supplies over the first year.

As INTJ personality type, Crystal says she tends to over-analyze everything around her. But, that seems to work well for her since she is inspired by all that is around her! She says she pays attention to the colors and patterns in her every day life and spins her own ideas off of those.

Crystal told me that the pattern on this fabric is what inspired her to start making elephants!

Being a mom and INTJ type, Crystal has cultivated some excellent time management skills! It is inspiring to learn about how she balances taking care of her little girl and sending products out on time. I’m hoping that when I begin school in January, I can create a daily plan- like Crystal has- to get everything done on time. She told me that she likes to get up early (before her daughter wakes up) and get started on her projects for the day. Some times that is just gathering her supplies for the day- and that’s ok! Once her daughter gets on the bus, Crystal has a few hours to work on products- she says she typically has her orders in the mail in three days. That includes custom orders (go Crystal!). When school is over, Crystal’s daughter has a playroom that is right next to her workspace. Some times Crystal takes a break to take her to the park or library. Once Crystal finishes up, she takes her daughter for their daily post office trips, and her little girl helps mommy put everything on the counter to get scanned in (AWWW!).
