Review | ScentBird Perfume Subscription

Perfume wall

I’ve been on the prowl for a new scent for some time now, so I was excited to learn about ScentBird, a perfume subscription company that allows you to test out high-end perfumes for just $15/month! Read on to find out which scent I picked and learn how you can find your new signature scent!

First of all, I’ve got to give some serious credit to ScentBird for a genius idea. Picking out perfumes in the store can be a real nightmare – you’re overwhelmed with scents and you don’t really get to test things out as much as you’d like before deciding. I mean, who the hell wants to drop $90 on a bottle of perfume that they are unsure of? I know I don’t!

Plus, if you’re like me, you end up owning 4-5 different scents that you like for different occasions or seasons, meaning that most of your perfume ends up sitting around collecting dust for the majority of the year. ScentBird helps to eliminate the “perfume graveyard” by supplying you with a 30-day supply each month! Perfect.

Before we get any further, I just want to apologize for the lack of original photographs in this post. I had a chance to test out my ScentBird perfume, but I did NOT get a chance to take photos before my dog found it and decided to turn it into a chew toy. For what it’s worth, ScentBird gets an A+ for a durable design! It may be covered in teeth marks, but Igby wasn’t able to actually puncture the perfume (and he’s REALLY good at destroying things).

How does ScentBird work?

When you sign up for ScentBird, you take a little test. It’s a visual multiple choice test and asks questions like, “Where would you rather be?” (Sea shore, orange grove, spice market, etc.) and “What do you naturally gravitate toward?” (Wood, berries, chocolate, etc.) You’re asked to enter in three perfumes that you like and voila! ScentBird suggests a number of perfumes based off of your preferences. You can read notes about each and decide which one you’d like to try. You pay $14.95 and before you know it, it’s at your door!

My Perfume Selection
I chose Eau de Cartier by Cartier. This is actually a uni-sex scent, but I tend to gravitate towards kind of woodsy scents, so I wanted to give it a shot! The main notes are listed as Violet Leaf, Yuzu, Violet, Lavender, and Virginia Cedar.

I really love this scent! It feels sophisticated, but not so much so that I can’t just wear it for a normal day at the office!

For your first shipment, they’ll send both the perfume sample and an atomizer. After that, you’ll receive just the sample and you can simply twist and remove/replace the sample with a new one when you’re ready.

scent bird V4I am really happy with my ScentBird experience! In fact, I think this may be one of my favorite subs I’ve ever tried. It’s a really fun way to try out some new scents at home on your own time, it’s affordable, and it’s the perfect for someone like me who likes to switch up scents when the mood, occasion, or season changes.

Other Useful Info

Cost: While it’s $14.95 for the 1-month plan, you can save a bit of money by purchasing a longer subscription. Here’s a breakdown of the pricing:

They have a referral program! Once you sign up, you get your own unique referral link which you can share with your friends. For every 3 friends who join, you get 1 free month of perfume. For 6 friends, you get 3 months of perfume. For 12, you get 6 free months of perfume! (I’m not officially a member yet, so I don’t have a link to share with you for now, but I recommend joining!)

All perfumes are authentic. While ScentBird isn’t associated with the designers or manufacturers in any way, they do pride themselves on offering only authentic perfumes. So, you don’t need to worry about dropping money on a knock-off!

Basically, all you need to know is that ScentBird is a great way to test out some killer scents on a budget! All you fragrance-lovers out there, I highly recommend giving ScentBird a shot!

  1. This is so cool! I will have to check Scentbird out!

I noticed your disclaimer saying you received your perfume complimentary so you could review it. How did you do that? Do they have a place on their website to request it? My friend does YouTube videos about products she buys, but something like this would be cool for her to do. It’s neat that the company “pays” you for your time and opinion by sending you the item. If you had a less-than-stellar review for them, it’d only help the company fix issues and become better. Great reviews like this one make people want to become new customers. So awesome!

    • Hi Nicho!
I’m so sorry I didn’t answer this sooner. For some reason, I’m just seeing it now.
Sometimes companies reach out to me and other times, I’ll reach out to companies to review their products.
When I was first starting out, I was always the one reaching out, of course!
Basically, if you go to any subscription box site or company site, you can go to their contact page and usually find an email address or a contact form.
Then, you can send along a custom-tailored message letting them know why you’d be interested in reviewing their product. It helps if you have good stats that you can share. 🙂
Feel free to email me at joanna@thriftingandbitching.com if you have any specific questions and I’d be happy to help!
