Review | Subscript Decor (New Subscription Service!)

feat

I’m a huge fan of all things beautiful, especially as it relates to home goods. Seriously. If I had it my way, my life would look like a Pinterest board! For the last few months, I’ve been putting a lot of effort into beautifying my living room (and MAN, did it need it). So, you can only imagine how happy I was when I found out about Subscript Decor!

Subscript Decor is a $45/month subscription box service for home decor items. Each box contains 1-7 items of the latest home decor trends. The total retail value per box ranges from $65-100+ and are sent to arrive by the 15th of each month.

This month’s box (their second box ever!) has a New Year’s Luck theme. Turns out I was very lucky because 4 of the 5 items in the box were perfect additions to my living room! Here’s a look at what I got…

It’s a little difficult to tell how big these items are from this photo, so as I introduce them to you, I’ll give ya a sneak peek of how they look in my living room! I’m super excited about how this room is starting to come together. I recently painted the walls from a really murky green to a pretty, pale blue; switched out hideous wooden shelving for clean, white shelving; bought an area rug; and made new throw pillows for the couch! *Please excuse the weird, unfinished painting on the wall.

Now does that look good on my couch or what?!

Hand-Painted Lucky Pillow by Subscript Decor: My favorite item from the box is this gorgeous horseshoe pillow, hand-painted by the folks at Subscript Decor! There were a few different designs being sent out: a dragonfly, a four-leaf clover, a ladybug, the number seven, a wishbone, and the horseshoe. I’m very happy with the one I got! This pillow is big and it’s super comfortable! Like, you just  s i n k  i n  when you rest your head on it. It’s glorious! ($35)

It adds a nice, simple accent hanging above the television.

Horseshoe Amulet by Feng Shui Earth: This hanging charm combines a few lucky/protection symbols – evil eyes, the elephant, and the horseshoe. These things are supposed to bring you strength, power, good luck, and protection. I don’t really believe in that sort of thing, but I love what it stands for and I think it’s really interesting and beautiful! I ended up hanging it in a big empty space above my television and I think it looks great. ($16.99)

I haven't found a home for this guy yet, but here are a few books for a size comparison.

Chinese Imperial Dragon Soap by Nancy Funk Ceramics: Whoa. This is the most intricately designed soap I’ve ever seen! Look at how gorgeous it is! Excuse the photos, but I didn’t even want to take it out of the wrapper just yet. It’s scented with Green Tea, which is really nice. I feel like I need to have this out for a really fancy occasion! ($12)

What a beautiful touch!

Small Handmade Vessel by Smoke Soaked Pottery: I just love this little plant vessel. First of all, it looks like a pear. How adorable is that? Also, I just love, love, love having handmade items around. I think they give a room so much character! I’ve been complaining lately about wishing I had more plants around the house, so this (and the bamboo) couldn’t have come at a better time! ($10-$12)

6-inch Lucky Bamboo Stem from Katsura Gardens: I love the look of bamboo stems, so I was very happy to find out this was included. It was wrapped very carefully to protect and nourish the roots (which was very much appreciated). Unfortunately, on the trip all the way from the West Coast to the East Coast, it got a little droopy! I still think it’s pretty, but I’m sure it was a little healthier when it left. 😉 ($1.15)

Total value: $75.14 – 77.14 (depending on the vessel). That’s a pretty good deal for a $45 box and I honestly really like every item I received. I think the team over at Subscript Decor have a really good eye for style and judging from this box and a peek at their December box (which you can see here), I’d feel pretty confident letting them pick out things for my home. That’s a big deal, guys. I know I mentioned this above, but I am really into home goods!

10430390_314494495420003_8285574112660412610_nI’d definitely recommend subscribing to Subscript Decor. If you’re a homebody like me, nothing beats being surrounded by beautiful little treasures.
